Pimple Popping on the Scalp: Causes, Treatment, and Prevention

Pimples on the scalp, though less common than facial acne, can be just as
frustrating and uncomfortable. They occur when hair follicles become clogged with
oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. The condition can range from mild, isolated pimples
to more severe forms of folliculitis or scalp acne.

Common causes include excess sebum production, hormonal changes, poor
hygiene, or using hair products that clog pores. Stress and diet can also play a role.
Treatments typically involve keeping the scalp clean, using gentle shampoos with
salicylic acid or tea tree oil, and avoiding heavy hair products. In severe cases, a
dermatologist may prescribe medicated treatments.

Preventing scalp pimples requires maintaining good hair and scalp hygiene,
managing stress, and using non-comedogenic hair products that won’t block pores.
