Parents are our first loves and how we see the world. They show us selflessness and kindness, and their love inspires us. These eight short stories show the strong and lasting bonds between parents and children, celebrating how far parents will go to make their children feel loved.
The Story:
I found out a few days before my wedding that my fiancé had cheated on me. I only told my dad. He said, “We can’t cancel the wedding now. The invitations are already sent.” On the wedding day, as he walked me down the aisle, I noticed something strange: the aisle didn’t lead to the altar. Instead, it turned gently out a side door, away from the guests.
Confused, I looked at him, and he winked. “Dad, what’s going on?” I asked. He said, “You don’t have to do this. I’ve spoken to the guests and told them the wedding is postponed because of a personal issue. They understand. You don’t have to explain anything today.”
I felt so relieved. When we stepped outside, I saw a beautiful garden with a small group of my closest friends and family. There was no wedding, just a celebration of love and support.
